YY= Yin Yoga (Beginners/ All Levels): Yin focuses on postures that lengthen the muscles surrounding the hips,pelvis, and lower back. Students typically hold these postures for 3-5 minutes per side in order to lengthen the connective tissue that surrounds the joints and increase its elasticity. The elasticity of our connective tissue diminishes with physical activity and aging, which makes Yin essential for injury prevention and joint health.
YY= Yin (Beginners/All Levels)
The essence of Yin Yoga is surrender. To balance the heat-building, blood pumping, strengthening "yang" side of a Vinyasa Flow or Ashtanga practice, Yin focuses on postures that lengthen the muscles surrounding the hips, pelvis, and lower back. Students typically hold these postures for 3-5 minutes per side in order to lengthen the connective tissue that surrounds the joints and increase its elasticity. The elasticity of our connective tissue diminishes with physical activity and aging, which makes Yin essential for injury prevention and joint health. Since a Yin Yoga practice often includes several long, seated forward bending postures, it also restores energy and calms the nervous system. This class is offered in the heated room and non-heated room
GF = Gentle Flow
While all of our other classes have a "No talking in the Yoga Room" this class is different. Women come together and talk a bit, laugh a bit and share, this is their community. The ages run from 40 - 80 years old. This class offers proper and safe alignment and with sensitivity to mobility. Perfect for active seniors. This class will allow you to build strength, mindfulness and flexibility over time.
HSF = Hot Slow Flow
This class incorporates all the same aspects as our Hot Vinyasa Flow, except we hold the poses for a longer period. Giving the student time to look within a feel each pose. Strengthen, stretch, and relax your entire body in this class. Be prepared to breathe, move, sweat, and to challenge both your body & mind!
HVF = Hot Vinyasa Flow
"Vinyasa Flow" means to link breath and movement. Our Hot Vinyasa Flow is practiced in a heated room to aid in warming the body for the practice. The heat allows your muscles to ease through their full range of motion within your own individual, physical limits. Focus is on balance, power, fluidity, flexibility and alignment while continuing to emphasize the fundamentals of yoga. Whether you are looking to improve your metabolism and circulation, or strengthen your cardiovascular system, this is the class for you! Hot Yoga is known for its detoxification benefits through sweat along with rejuvenation of the skin. Melt away years of stress and cleanse your body of toxins as you stretch and strengthen.
HPH = Hot Power Yoga
Hour of Power Yoga! Don't be scared by the name. This class has its roots in Iyengar and Ashtanga so it not only focuses on your alignment, but also the fluidity from one pose to the next. Power Yoga was rated #1 for weight loss out of all other forms of yoga. This practice is a total body workout that creates longer, leaner muscles and a body with more mobility to improve circulation.
HYY = Hot YinYasa
The Fusion of Yin and Vinyasa Flow By fusing Yin yoga with Vinyasa flow; Serenity has created an integrated, (75min) balanced practice. The hour-long Yang section is a flowing repetition of movements requiring strength and balance, while emphasizing breath work and internal locks. The heat and internal awareness generated in the Yang portion build on the releases cultivated during the Yin series. Yin work help release the connective tissues, create space and integrity in the joints and remove blockages to internal energy flow. Focusing on the hips, pelvis, lower back and knees, the Yin postures keep the core supple.
